Dr. Bhattacharya is a world-renowned authority on Social Reproduction Theory (SRT), which explores everyday life under capitalism. Rather than an approach focused narrowly on waged workers and production, SRT looks more broadly at all the ways in which the social relations necessary for our capitalist way of life are organized—in such spheres as domestic labour, child care, health care, education, and family life. Recently, Dr. Bhattacharya co-authored Feminism for the 99%, a worldwide call to action translated into many languages around the world. It urges feminists to rethink any alliance with “progressive neoliberalism” and to align themselves instead with “every movement that fights for the 99 percent.” It’s widely regarded as a ground-breaking statement from feminists at a time of world crisis.
